Last week we covered goals: how you can become aware of the energy exchange you’re experiencing so that you do not experience a full on burnout. This week, the focus is on adapting when things change and pivoting from what you once focused on to what now can be done. The goal is to get you to accept what is so that you can let go and move forward.
Adapt & Pivot
Now I am not going to lie to you, this is something I am constantly struggling with. The controller parts of me are so focused on what could go wrong rather than what can go right. What can change that? Noticing the thought before it spirals. It is to become aware of your patterns so you can stop it with an interruption. Here is the formula to pivot: notice then interrupt.
Next comes the adapt portion. In order to adapt, you must notice your patterns and become aware of where they usually try to take you (usually comes from a place of fear and “what could go wrong”). After you are aware of the patterns and notice the controlling part of needing to be ahead of the game and what could go wrong, ask yourself what could go right? This question will support you in shifting from the scary things and what could go wrong to the possibilities and opportunities. Here is the formula to adapting: awareness of patterns then shift perspective by asking yourself “what could go right?”
Accept & Let go
Do you see how fast you can shift your mindset and perspective just from becoming aware and adapting or pivoting? This is how you are then able to focus on accepting what is and letting go of what was. It is all the power of the mind and your mental muscles. When you stop trying to control everything around you and focus on controlling your own mindset, that is when the real magic happens. We only ever had real control of ourselves - thoughts, feelings, beliefs, etc. Remember you are the creator of your reality, so what are you going to create with that power?
