The only thing in this world we can control is ourselves and we get to choose how we show up in this world. We can control what we do with our thoughts and program our brains to think how we want them to. The most important thing you do in this world is show up and share your truth. Show up for yourself and share your truth so that it can be released. By releasing your experience out into the universe for others to hear, you connect with people you may never have known before. You will reach the ones that need you. You will make others feel not so alone. You will show them that there is a light on the other side. You will show them that you are now the light for yourself.
Embodiment
The technique of embodiment and “acting as if.” “Fake it till you make it” is to embody the energy you need to support you. Embody the person you look up to, a role model, or whoever you look up to for guidance. What would they do for themselves? How would they participate in self-care? How do they stay motivated? Try those things. If that doesn’t work, get an accountability partner. If you can’t show up for yourself, it may help to have reinforcements. Get an accountability partner so that you show up for your partner and they will show up for you.
Why is showing up so important?
Showing up starts with you getting up and doing what you said you were going to do. You show yourself that you are trustworthy when you show up. You said you were going to do ____ and you did ____. Simple as that. Your body hears you, when you say you're going to do something then it expects you to do it. It also is the same with how you talk to yourself: if you talk down on yourself, you will eventually believe it and feel down; if you talk highly of yourself, you will eventually believe it and feel lighter or at peace. Showing up for yourself means putting yourself first.
What you say to yourself matters, as words and thoughts are the first forms of communication. The communication from your brain to body can be both conscious (where you are consciously aware) and unconscious (in your subconscious and not aware), meaning you are either aware or unaware. Whether you are aware of it or not, conscious self-talk is heard by your subconscious as a conversation. What you say is done by the conscious and the action is by the subconscious. Your subconscious is always listening to your conscious, whether or not your actions are consciously being done or on autopilot. So, do you really know the power of your words and language? The reason I bring this point forward is that when you tell yourself things like…
Tips to make “Showing Up” easier:
Start small (baby steps) but dream big (set goals).
Count to 5 then just jump in “head first” ready to engage.
Do it daily, even if it's just a little bit - be consistent.
Make it an urgent priority - find your why behind it.
Be a creator, not a follower - find YOUR way of doing things.
Fail fabulously - It is not considered a failure unless you give up, everything else is just a learning lesson.
Practice makes progress - give yourself love and grace, do not judge.
We are not only the main characters in our life, but we have the opportunity to be the creator, editor, writer, producer, and the whole team. You choose how you want to show up in the world.
