Learn how to control your mental muscles and create mindset shifts!

Updated: Apr 22, 2022

Last week we talked about taking control of how you think and your mindset so that you can relearn and reprogram your original way of thinking. This gives you the opportunity of challenging the beliefs you were raised to believe to then allow you the space to evaluate what truly aligns with your most authentic self. Are you ready to take the next steps to align to your highest good?

Control Mindset Muscles:

Using your senses to ground self and align with highest good

I must start with saying this:

You are not your thoughts, you are merely the observer of your thoughts.

What comes up for you when you read that? I want you to know that there are many parts that make up the human body and experience. One of those things is that there is always balance, meaning that your thoughts come up for a reason: instinctually (fear, inner critic, coping mechanism, what was learned from experiences) and then intuitively (love, light, divinity, highest good, your most authentic self, etc.). These two sides both play an important role…

  • Instinctually - help your survive from things that may cause you harm

  • Intuitively - guide you to stepping into your power, even if it looks scary

Now I want you to focus on the intuitive side of yourself. Notice what came to your mind when reading that:

  • What came to your mind?

  • Where in your body did you think of? (Heart, Gut, Head, or maybe even another part?)

  • What did you picture in your mind?

  • Which of your sense do you feel the pulled to the most? (sight, smell, touch, or hear)

After acknowledging where in your body you feel your intuition the most, decide what sense you feel called to the most. This sense will be your go-to resource in connecting and grounding you from your head to body. This brings you from overwhelming thoughts to focus on being. Let me explain - when you are in a stressful situation, use your senses to ground you then describe it in great detail:

  • Sight - focus on one thing and really start to notice each part of that item. Describe it in great detail.

  • Smell - focus on one scent and pinpoint what the source of it is.

  • Touch - feel something and get explicit on the feeling

  • Hear - focus on one sound and pinpoint what the source of it is.

Your body is full of countless tools for you to use, but we often forget how much our body works and gives. Your body is constantly working to keep you alive. It is time to focus on what your body feels and is most connected to.

Using your senses is often helpful and closely associated with meditation. As I am one who personally struggles with meditation, using the tools of my senses gave me the power to do meditation work in ways that worked for me.

Remember: meditation is different for everyone.

To me, meditation is being connected to your flow state. Flow state is when you are fully connected to mind and body at the same time. For example, when you are in movement and for me that is when creating art or being active. Flow state is also most commonly known as “being in the zone”. So I ask you this, when are you the most in the zone?
