Morning Rituals: How do you start your day? What feels good to you when you wake up?

Updated: Aug 17, 2022

Last month we learned about re-learning and re-programming: mindset outlook, mental muscles, skills for reflection and reframing, and using supportive mindset tools. Now my hope is that you have a better understanding of your mind and how you must become aware so that you can begin the process of undoing in order to redo what you actually desire your life to be and become. This month we are going to be examining your current habits so that you can build new habits that support an ideal routine that feels good to you. We will also evaluate your current goals and see how reflecting on them can support you to grow even deeper in them. Let’s start with where your day begins…

We have been seeing a lot of media around what a productive morning should look like, but the reality of it is - what works for someone else is not always going to work for you. So you need to play with it -yes, that's right, PLAY. Play around with what you see online or come up with your own ideas. Try things and see what does or doesn't work for you. Maybe what works one day does not work the next, but build in a consistency with your time. This may be hard to explain so let me share with you how it has worked for me.

Every morning when I wake up, follow my 3-to-3 Method. This involves three things: mind, body, and soul. I have a list of things that support each so I have the choice and flexibility to do what feels right for that morning. I pick three under each body, mind, and soul that supports me for that specific morning.

For example:

  • Mind - journaling, reading, meditation, goals, art, pet my animals, drink water or tea

  • Body - hygiene, working out, yoga/stretching, dancing, water plants

  • Soul - crystals, tarot, meditation, gratitude, affirmations, aromatherapy

See how I have options and choices but they still fall under the three things I follow daily. Some activities may fall under multiple categories, but thats just it - its flexible to what FEELS right. So whatever I feel like doing when I wake up, I pick three from each to do and that always gets my day started the right way. If I am not feeling my usual vibe, then I have the availability to just one from three (mind, body, and soul) and give that extra time to doing 3 minutes of whatever I need to reconnect to myself that day.

Do you see how the structure is solid but flexible? That is what gives support, honoring what feels right for you with a structure that actually supports what you need when you need it.
